10th February

Jon Williamson, University of Kent.

Do probability and causality exist?

Background

Professor of Reasoning, Inference and Scientific Method

BSc (Manchester), MSc PhD (London)

Jon Williamson has interests in the philosophy of causality; the foundations of probability; logics and reasoning; and the use of causality, probability and logics in AI. His recent book Bayesian Nets and Causality develops the view that causality and probability are features of the way we represent the world, not a part of the world itself.
